Soliloquium Record

Support.

Soliloquium Record is a dictation and recording tool for the Mac: a floating panel, press the microphone button, speak, stop – the text is on your clipboard and the recording is kept as a WAV file in the Soliloquium Record subfolder of a folder you choose, with the transcript next to it. In the App Store edition, transcription runs on-device with Apple's speech recognition on supported Macs from macOS 26, or with your own OpenAI account and permission.

Folder, Dock and history

Choose a destination before your first recording and change it later in Settings. The Dock icon reopens a hidden panel. An additional menu-bar icon is off by default and can be enabled in Settings. Up to ten previous dictations remain available during the session. There is no history switch; quitting clears history but does not delete saved files.

Questions, bugs, wishes

Write to [email protected]. Please mention your macOS version, app edition and whether transcription or fine editing is affected. Do not include API keys.

Requirements

macOS 13 or later. Apple's on-device model needs macOS 26; before that, recognition requires your own OpenAI account. Muting other apps while recording uses the "System Audio Recording" permission from macOS 14.2 – nothing is recorded.

Privacy

How the app processes and retains recordings, transcripts and editing data is explained in the privacy policy. The app sends us no recordings and uses no tracking. Without fine editing and with Apple transcription, audio content stays on your Mac. Optional fine editing in the development edition sends audio to ElevenLabs and OpenAI, and word text and timestamps to OpenAI. It requires both API accounts and permissions and is not included in the App Store edition.
